Hopefully TPP will have some more exciting music. Since Ground Zeroes was more of a prologue and not particularly action-or cutscene heavy, it makes sense that most of the OST is just ambient or basic Alert/Caution themes.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Although only the Escape and Alert themes rise above average to great, I still love the 80's action movie feel it shares with MG2. Favorite Track: Calling to the Night This is actually my least favorite song in the whole franchise because like the rest of the music it feels somewhat bland, but I still like it and it's easily the best music in this game.Ĩ.

While I think this is one of the more generic soundtracks in this series (second only to The Twin Snakes), there are a few stand out tracks, like Gene's theme, Sad Man's theme, Calling to the Night, and Showtime.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Honestly, starting with this game, all the following soundtracks in this list from here onward I think are above average, but not amazing. Again, if I had to pick my favorite track from this game, it'd be one of the boss songs, but like Metal Gear I like them all equally so I can't pick a favorite.ħ. The rest of the OST is okay with only the Title and Armstrong pre-boss fight music standing out, which is why I've placed this soundtrack in the middle of the list. I especially like how the battle songs get more crazy lyric and music wise as Raiden starts to give in to his Jack the Ripper side. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance I think it goes without saying that the vocal tracks are the best part of this OST, and while I can't say I prefer them to songs in the Solid games, I think that the lyrics, vocals, and instrumentals all work together perfectly and fit each boss extremely well. That said, I can't really find any particular track that I like or dislike more than others, so even weaker tracks are still decent.Ħ. My only complaint is that the boss battle themes aren't all that great, and seem kinda out of of place. Metal Gear Though there's only 9 tracks, all of which last under 2 minutes, they all sound wonderful and compliment the stealth gameplay perfectly. Favorite Track: Mobs Alive I just love the chaotic atmosphere in this piece, it has that right amount of tension and action in it, and I feel it's the Liquid Ocelot equivalent of Old Snake.ĥ. Not that it's a bad thing, and I can't say I find any of the music bad, but I just don't like it as much in comparison to the OSTs above. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Out of all the Metal Gear games, this one has the most movie-like feel to it's music (which I guess makes sense since MGS4 is pretty much just a 9 hour movie amirite?). Favorite Track: SWING, SWING~''A'' JAM BLUES Another obscure hidden radio track, while it's short and vastly different from the rest of the music, but I just love the sound of it for some reason.Ĥ. I really like the 80's action movie feel of the music, and the fact that each track has a unique sound to it instrument wise is quite amazing given the limitations of the hardware. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake For certain one the best 8 bit soundtracks ever. I love all the Healing/Radio songs, but it has this touch of sadness to it despite sounding rather upbeat, and I guess I'm just a sucker for music like that.ģ. Favorite Track: Pillow Talk This seem like an odd choice, but honestly I don't care.

Again, every track complements the game perfectly, and even the weaker tracks are still okay. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Like MGS1, I think all the music in this game is just astounding, but unlike MGS1 where I can't honestly say any track is particularly bad or so-so, since they're all so good, there are a few tracks on here that I feel aren't bad but just kind of meh, like the music for the Cobra Unit boss battles (except The Boss of course). Favorite Track: The Best is Yet Come Hauntingly beautiful, and one of the best video game songs ever composed.Ģ. Every track sounds amazing and fits the mood. Metal Gear Solid Not just my favorite Metal Gear OST, but one of my favorite video game OSTs ever. Here's my ranking (includes links to each OST listed):ġ. I think we can all agree that every Metal Gear game has an amazing soundtrack, but I'm sure that each of us might prefer one game's soundtrack over another, so I want to see how you list them going from best to worst, and your favorite and (if any) least favorite track from each of them.
